Drone workshop

Pix4D Workshop at AEC Next 2018 in Anaheim, California

On June 7th, Pix4D will head up to Anaheim, CA to exhibit at AEC Next Technology Expo + Conference. We have been invited to deliver an exclusive industry training course about drone mapping for the AEC industry.

The power of drones for AEC applications

Drone workshop

Date:  Thursday, June 7
Time:  09:00 am – 12:00 pm
Location:  Anaheim Convention Center – Room 210 D
Course fee:  $100

Join us at AEC Next for a 3-hour industry workshop to learn why and how to use drones and drone mapping software.

The first two hours of the workshop are dedicated to drones. You’ll learn why and how to incorporate drone data into your construction or BIM workflows.

Our experienced instructors will explain the techniques for efficient and automated drone mapping to create repeated survey-grade 2D and 3D models for:

  • Pre-construction topographic survey
  • Stockpiles measurement and cut & fill volume calculation
  • Earthworks tracking
  • As-built monitoring
  • Project documentation
  • Inspection

The final hour of the workshop will introduce you to the next generation of surveying equipment for automatic data collection: a crane-mounted camera system. It uses the same principles as drone mapping except data is collected automatically on a daily basis with no restriction and no human intervention at all. We will demo the solution and show how it is used for daily site progress monitoring and as-built documentation.

In The power of drones for AEC applications we will present how to capture, visualize, and analyze geo-referenced outputs, including 2D orthophotos, 3D point clouds, elevation maps, contour maps, and 3D mesh models. Plus, we will cover how to integrate these outputs within a collaborative workflow to facilitate planning and as-built verification.

Some of the world’s leading companies are using drones for AEC applications, and we will cover a number of real-world case studies from top organizations. We will explain how aerial photogrammetry, drone, and crane-based imagery is used to improve project feasibility and bidding, and better track and communicate construction progress. We will also discuss challenges faced and the effective solutions that can be implemented and we will be available to answer any questions you may have.
